On Sunday April 15, 2012 St. Louis Center hosted the 29th Annual Recognition Dinner honoring friends, residents, and staff. This yearly event, organized by the SLC Parents Association, brings approximately 200-250 people to our campus every year. This years theme was “Think Spring,” as St. Louis Center is planning for it’s first ever “Tranquility Garden” for it’s residents.
Beginning with a noon celebration Mass, this year’s celebrant was Rev. Fr. James McDougall of St. Francis Parish in Ann Arbor, MI. The Mass was concelebrated by members of the Servants of Charity who were present, and Fr. McDougall received this year’s “Good Shepherd Award,” for his personal support and the support of his parishioners for St. Louis Center.
Following Mass, a reception was held in the lobby, dinner was served, and then MC Steve Daut moved the program into the awards phase. Community Advisory Council member George Mallison received this year’s Citizenship Award for his work during last year’s building expansion and representatives from St. Joseph Catholic School in Howell, MI were recognized as Volunteers of the Year.
Direct Care worker Janet Best was named this year’s Employee of the Year, and Robert Neff received the Resident of the Year Award. Members of the Italian American Club of Livonia presented a large donation to support our Transportation Program, and residents danced to the music of DJ-Jerry Martell of Chelsea.
