St. Louis Center Hosts 1st Fitness Run

The 1st Annual Fitness for Life 1 Mile Walk/Run took place on the morning of Saturday May 11, 2013 under cloudy skies, but with over 100 participants in this first of its kind event for St. Louis Center. Although a short course, the walk/run took participants through a scenic wooden trail that everyone seemed to enjoy. The purpose of the event was to raise money and awareness for the Community Fitness Program designed for persons with intellectual and developmental disabilities. The program is run by Fitness Coordinator Caitlin Deis, and is open to St. Louis Center residents as well as person’s w/IDD from the surrounding area. According to Deis “People of all ages supported our event and everyone had a great time. Special thanks to the Ben Daniels Band who came out and performed for the crowd after the race. For a first year event, we were pleased with the turnout, and would like to thank everyone who came out to support our program.”
