SLC Hosts 1st Annual Classic Car Show

St. Louis Center in Chelsea has been providing residential care for children and adults with developmental disabilities for 53 years, and constantly finds new friends willing to help to fund their programs. This year is no exception, as several local experts from the Detroit area in the Classic Car field have agreed to hold their 1st Annual Classic Car Show on the grounds of St. Louis Center on Sunday September 22, 2013. The Center is located at 16195 Old W. US-12, Chelsea, MI, 48118.

Cindy and her classic car Cindy Lesser, co-owner of the Parts Peddler auto supply store in Chelsea with her husband Mark, is chairing the event, and is excited to announce the celebrities who will be in attendance. “Top Hat John Jendza is a real mover and shaker in the Classic Car field, and has helped us to organize this show. He’s been coordinating car shows for over thirty years now. We’ve also got commitments from Weatherman Chuck Gaidica of WDIV Channel 4 in Detroit, Jean Jennings – Editor of Automobile Magazine, and Chuck Miller from Styline Customs. Brian ‘Bubba’ Cowan from W4 Country (102.9 FM) in Ann Arbor will also be on the air doing a remote broadcast from 1-3 p.m.”

“Top Hat John” Jendza came to St. Louis Center for a Christmas Party several years ago, and was told, “just come once and you’re hooked.” During a recent interview he said, “At one point, I was doing 40 shows a year; 25 in Michigan and 15 throughout the rest of the country for the owners of Hot Rod Magazine. Personally, St. Louis Center has really struck a chord with me, because we’re doing this to help God’s special children, who really need our help. It’s my way of helping those who can’t help themselves. Being there will certainly put smiles on the faces of everyone there. We hope to see at least 250 cars.”

The show runs from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m., and there will be a registration fee of $15 per vehicle on the day of the show. Breakfast and lunch items will be available for purchase, and comedian/singer Barry Alan will also be on hand to entertain the crowd. For more information about the Classic Car Show, please visit
