Members of the Knights of Columbus from Our Lady of Fatima Parish in Michigan Center,( 20 miles west of Chelsea), got a very early start on their day on Saturday, October 19, 2013, as they arrived at St. Louis Center at 6:00 a.m. to prepare a hearty breakfast for all fifty residents. Knight Bill Roller of Michigan Center, came up with the idea to do a pumpkin coloring event for the residents in 2012 following a cook-out, and this year decided to do a breakfast instead. According to Mr. Roller, “We wanted to try to do something a little different for our friends at St. Louis Center, and since nobody else does breakfast, we thought we’d try that instead.” Residents were treated to a hot breakfast of pancakes and sausage with juice, and really enjoyed the efforts of the Knights. Resident “Stanley,” who is a member of the Chelsea Council, was made an honorary member of the Fatima Council, and received a new shirt and ball cap from Grand Knight Duane Danko. After breakfast, the residents took a turn at coloring their favorite pumpkin for Halloween, which is celebrated in the U.S. on October 31st.
