Chelsea – A large and influential group of Italian-Americans in Southeast Michigan are working hard to continue to find ways of supporting St. Louis Center; both financially and emotionally. For the financial part, our good friends Mike Chirco, Sam Cottone, and Joe Maniaci sponsored the 17th Annual Dad and Lad Golf Outing on August 6th which was another sell-out on a beautiful summer day in Rochester Hills, MI. Nearly 300 friends were on hand to play 18 holes of golf, and attend a plated dinner to help support a silent auction that raised money to support the residents of SLC. Fr. Joseph Rinaldo, SdC., was the honorary host of the event.
Four days later on August 10th many of the same friends joined Jack Tocco, Jr. and his family at the Tocco Family Picnic held on site at St. Louis Center in Chelsea. As an annual event started by the late Jack Tocco, Sr. many years ago, his family and their friends from the east side of Detroit gather together to put on a feast for the residents of SLC. This year’s food included pizza, chicken fingers, hot dogs, hamburgers, potato chips, cotton candy, and snow cones. The residents look forward to this event every year, and everyone had a great time.
