As a major benefactor for St. Louis Center, the Italian American Club of Livonia held their 21st Annual “Guardian Angel” Dinner/Dance recently.
The event began with a Mass in the lower level at noon attended by 100 people, and was celebrated by Fr. Enzo Addari, SdC., the Administrator of St. Louis Center. Approximately 225 people gathered for the dinner after Mass, and a plated meal featured chicken piccata, pasta, vegetables, and salad.
The fruit trays and desserts were provided by Bahama Breeze, Be My Bakery, Dunia Sweets, Heritage Bakery, Kilwins, Joe’s Produce, and the 20 “Cookie Ladies” from the club. The events that were held during the day included a silent auction, treasure chest raffle, gift raffle, and live dance music from the group, “One Man Out.” Former Wayne County Executive Robert A. Ficano of Livonia was the recipient of the St. Louis Guanella Humanitarian Award for his support of St. Louis Center during his term as county executive, his charitable work for the March of Dimes and the work of his charitable foundation for the youth of Wayne County.
Cruise Planners and Azamara Club Cruises also presented a check to Fr. Enzo for $17,516, which were the profits from a “Dream Cruise” to Italy that took place in October 2015.
The bulk of the funds raised from the IACL event came from an ad book that brought in nearly $15,000 in donations from local businesses to support the transportation program at St. Louis Center. Bill Brown Ford and Lou LaRiche Chevrolet were also corporate sponsors this year. The money raised will ensure that St. Louis Center continues to provide reliable, safe transportation for the needs of its residents in 2016.
